At the October 3rd Council Business Meeting, Past Grand Knight Lou Hlad presented Sir Knight Al Garofalo with a Life time Achievement Award for his years of Knight activities. He is only the second member, after Wiley Maloof, to have been presented this prestigious award. There was not room enough on the certificate to list all his achievements, but we made our best attempt. We honor this holy man for life well spent and wish him many more years of happiness and service.

Council Charter Member Gert Kampfer was recognized for his many lifetime achievements as a member of 11402.

He initiated and ran our web site for over 15 years. His team leadership with our acolyte program, his fish fry service, his awards for Keep Christ in Christmas, his service as Financial Secretary like-wise for over 15 years, and help in get-ting the Georgia Tech Council off the ground are extraordinary.

Because his fingerprints are all over our council history and successes, he joined brothers Wiley Maloof and Al Garofalo as the three members so honored by our highest award.

Now, if we can only get him to become a fourth degree knight, he will only need two miracles for sainthood.

In grateful recognition of 14 years of faithful service to our Council, Sir Knight Wiley Maloof is hereby recognized. This quiet gentleman brother, also father of a brother, served as our voice of conscience and stood a stalwart sentinel of All Saints. A deeply religious man, he encouraged support for overseas missions and devotionals to Mary. His marriage to wife Adele lasted over 50 years and was interrupted only by her death.

His devotion to our Fish Fry, monastery support, Independence Day parades, Church door sales, and all Council fundraisers was unfailing. His entrepreneurial skills provided ties with local businesses such as Schwan’s catering, Ink-Jet and toner recycling, and ongoing golf cart maintenance programs. His close ties to All Saints clergy had a profound impact. He lobbied at great length for the large sanctuary crucifix. He served in many Honor Guards until he could no longer stand for long periods.

A Catholic gentleman in the truest sense of the words, he was a good friend and support of all, a quiet man dismissing fanfare and recognition. We belatedly recognize him for a life well lived and award him this small token of our love and affection.

Sir Knight Stan Wasowski is leaving us to retire in Ponte Vedra, FL to be near his grandkids. We will miss him greatly.

Before he left, we wanted to acknowledge how vital he was to the Order by awarding him our council’s fourth Lifetime Achievement Award.

Stan was our council’s Warden and Grand Knight, Watters Assembly Faithful Navigator, Admiral, and Captain, the District Deputy for four councils, an acolyte, an honor guard plus its Commander, a fish fry chef, a parish Eucharistic minister, an exemplification team member, and God only knows how many other things.

He will transfer to another Council and Assembly down there and continue to work his magic for the Order.

We can only wish him Godspeed with a tear in our eyes.
